I have never really enjoyed any of the times I have smoked marijuana. All the times I have smoked marijuana, I would get deep in my thoughts and I would get depressed. I become paranoid and lost.
Any tips? It seems that all my friends who smoke it can handle it except me.
I’ve noticed this problem occurs most frequently (almost exclusively) in people who have high intrapersonal intelligence according to Gardner’s multiple intelligence scale. It results from hyper-focusing on a thought, not active cause and effects going on around you.
While being high, the only thing that matters is what is immediately in your attention. That thing is so important and novel and amazing, be it a piece of music, an action, a thought, an emotion, a joke, a person, .etc.
This is freaking awesome — MOST of the time. However, if you find yourself lost in a depressing emotion, or a paranoid state of mind, you will truly spiral downward. You become engrossed in the current state of mind, and as you think more negative thoughts, your state of mind becomes more negative, and as it becomes more negative, you think more negative thoughts (and so on and so on). Sometimes this can lead to panic attacks and feelings of extreme depression.
The solution – THINK POSITIVE THOUGHTS. Now you can try reversing your thought patterns, or you can try distracting yourself with some music/humor/other external stimulation, or just move over to a different thought. Once you move over and just dont look back at the negativity all of a sudden your whole experience will become more more free and fun.
You’ll look back in hindsight at what you were just thinking about 30 seconds ago (which will seem like an hour) and laugh at how caught up you were in that idea that you just kept feeding.
In life, your thoughts change your perception, which in turn change your emotions and state of well being. This is extremely amplified when under the influence of psychoactives like marijuana.
So just realize it is truly all in your head..and you really have the power to change your outlook in one mental effort. You have so much power and control over how happy you are on weed that once you realize it you will feel like Hercules.
Just smile and make a conscious choice to say “Okay I want to feel ___” this is not serving me at all to think in this way.
Then do something you like to do. Draw if you like to draw, dance if you like to dance, do math if you like to do math.
