Of late cigarettes have been making me gag when I smoke ‘em, do you think I should quit?
I think I ought to… I think I would like to… anyone out there have any tips? Ex- smokers, how did you do it without becoming a troll?
Chosen Answer:
Well cigarettes are naturally harmful. And if your coughing/gagging, its your bodies natural response telling you that its not agreeing with the cigarettes.
As far as quiting, I’m a pharmacist and I quit smoking successfully.
My method was:
- Stop smoking cigarettes.
- Stop drinking coffee (since I used to always have a smoke with my coffee) to break the habit.. and started drinking tea instead (tea is also healthier).
- Whenever craving to smoke comes, I chewed on a piece of “Nictoine Polacrilex” aka Nicotime gum.
-> I was using 10-15 pieces of nicotine gum a day, then I found a mint flavoured nicotine gum and started using that.
Slowly instead of using the nicotine mint flavoured gum I also started using a strong normal mint flavoured gum until I was only chewing normal gum..
And now I just chew gum sometimes, and dont smoke and dont have any urges.
The first week will be crazy with the cravings and youll be a little upset/angry much easier, but in the end its worth it, I feel better, I have better sense of smell, I have a new taste of foods, and life is better overall!
Just gotta have the end goal of no smoking and the drive and motivation, avoid friends who smoke for now, and get some people to support you and help you with the quitting process!
You can do it!
Anyone have a smoked turkey recipe?? Or any tips on smoking a turkey?
Chosen Answer:
When i smoke my turkey i usually start off brining it….one cup kosher salt, one cup sweetener( I use molasses) and some enhancers (peppercorns, bayleaf, etc) dissolve the sugar and salt in some water then add to a large pot, place the turkey in and cover with cold water. Let this sit overnight, 12hours usually is good enough. This process with flush out any residual nasties in the meat and add flavor and moisture.
Next step is to dry your bird well. Season the outside with salt and pepper. I like to add an apple and onion to the interior cavity.
Now smoke the turkey, use a mild wood like apple. If you want to use mesquite or Hickory be careful, they impart a very strong flavor.

My husband and I are going to begin ttc in about 6 months, i’m losing weight and quit smoking, any tips to in?
does anyone have tips to help increase our chances? We have not taken any precautionary/preventative measures for the last 5 years, so I have a feeling this is going to be tough, we need all the help we can get.
Chosen Answer:
1. go to your doctor for a pre-conception check up. just because you haven’t used protection doesn’t mean you’ll have problems at all. you have to have sex at just the right time to conceive and other factors will play a role, too. your doctor will let you know if they foresee any problems and will make sure everything’s healthy before you start.
2. figure out when you are likely to be ovulating. pick up ovulation test kits (about ten bucks for a week’s worth of tests) and start testing for ovulation…this helps A LOT!
3. get yourself a good prenatal vitamin with folic acid and take it every day.
4. get yourself a basal body thermometer and take your temp first thing in the morning every day. while the ovulation test kit will tell you when you are ABOUT to ovulate, the temps will confirm that you HAVE ovulated. you will see a good rise in temp and it will stay up til your period once you ovulate.
5.start monitoring your cervical mucus…you are most fertile and about to ovulate/ovulating when mucus is the consistency and color of egg whites. it should stretch between two fingers without breaking.
6. try not to do too much pre-planning or worrying. it makes it very difficult for the husband to perform. we’ve struggled with this. try not to put unnecessary pressure on him.
7. have sex either missionary style or from behind as these are most conducive to conception. afterward, put a pillow under your hips to elevate them and keep the semen in.
8. saliva and many lubricants are hostile to sperm. be careful about using them during sex.
9. don’t pee for at least an hour after sex.
10. wait 14 days after you ovulate and use first morning urine to take a home pregnancy test. hopefully it will be positive! GOOD LUCK!
Does anyone have any good tips for quitting smoking?
I am seriously considering giving up the habit. I have smoked for 20 years. How did others do it? Did you find the patch/gum helpful? I have specific times I like to smoke. When I’m putting on makeup, talking on the phone, etc. Any good ideas out there on what to do at these times?

Saticali;
Of all life’s challenges, quiting smoking ranks near the top. Of all of life threats, smoking ranks at or near the top.
Simply “considering” stopping is not quite enough.
You are at the bottom of a steep road. You are wearing a running suit and sneakers; to your right is a corvette, motor running and no driver. Two choices;
1) If you drive the corvette up the hill there is a 70% chance you will not make the top alive.
2) If you jog up the hill you will not only arrive at the top (not as fast) you will be healthier for it.
If you have to “consider” whether or not to jog or drive, I’ll bet you 0 dollar to your dollar you will take a chance and drive.
Quiting smoking is the same. “Considering” just doesn’t cut the mustard. Remember the next step beyond “CONSIDER” is “COMMIT”
Unless you are will to “commit” to stop smoking the question you have asked is mute.
Likewise if you are committed you will not have to ask the question to begin with.
Have you ever tried eating “cold turkey?” It certainly is less tasty that a bucket of fried chicken; but far more healthy.
Prepare a diet of “Cold Turkey” when you are “COMMITTED” to a healthy diet and life.
Another plus; buy a new car with the cig. money you save! You can have a Vet., but no steep hills.
Quite smoking and drive safely.
Is it ok to smoke markers?
My friend and I have smoked them before, just pull the tips out and put them in a bowl..But we got really really high..And I was just wondering what the side-affects of this could be? I know it has to be different than just inhaling them, because it’s not going directly to your brain, but to your lungs, ya know? But I was just curious if anyone knew?
Chosen Answer:
It makes no sense at all to say that “it’s not going directly to your brain, but to your lungs”. The reason why people smoke tobacco, or marijuana, or cocaine, or opium, is precisely BECAUSE many substances that are inhaled into the lungs go directly to the brain within a few seconds. Unfortunately, the high you get from the solvents in markers isn’t caused by the drug tweaking some of the normal chemical processes in your brain (which is how the drugs above work in your brain). Solvents, being what they are, DISSOLVE stuff–and in this case, they dissolve cell walls and protective structures around nerves in your brain. And this is no government BS either–people who smoke or huff solvents for a while can have a brain scan done, and it will actually show sponge-like HOLES in the brain where tissue has been eaten away.
In short, you’re getting high by literally liquefying your brain. And if you haven’t already liquefied too much of it, then you probably agree that that’s NOT really “ok”.

I’m not a smoker, but I have a few family members that are in the same boat as you are. I don’t have any good tips but I wanted to tell you about one of my habits and how I got it under control. I was a chronic T.V. addict. I would watch it everyday all day and late into the night. It got to where I hated it and at times I wanted to throw it out of the house. I had direct T. V. and decided that I would shut it off and I would have nothing to watch. Wrong. I then because nothing was on the antenna T.V. I would tape the late shows all night so that I could have something to watch in the day. I finally took the T.V. out of my home and I have never been happier. I finally got my life back. Before if my husband wanted to go somewhere I would not want to I would sit there in front of my demon, but now We are very active and go places together often. He misses the T.V., but he has made a sacrifice that has benefited him. I lost 50 Pounds already and for that he is extremely happy. I’m happier. What I’m trying to say is that until you find a way inside you to quit you won’t be happy. Just think of the joy you will have just to look and see someone smoking and know that you over came that. No matter what it takes. My brother and his wife smoke, they both want to quit, but never come to the conclusion at the same time. So it kind of sabotages the others progress. Stay away from other smokers. Only buy one pack for the day or week. Don’t have any extra on hand. Clean out your house of all ash trays even your car. Have nothing to do with smoking around you. Make small rules for yourself that you plan on keeping. Like no smoking in the house, no smoking until 2 hours after a meal. I’ve noticed that most people want to smoke right after or during a meal. This is just a few choices that I thought of. I bet you can think of many. If you turely want to quit you will try anything. Like me, it took drastic measures. Soon you’ll be on your way to a smoke free inviroment. Good Luck.
Anyone have any tips for quitting smoking?
I really want to quit smoking. Does anyone have any good tips, or even know of any good hypnotism dvds or cds i’ve heard that’s meant to really work. It’s not so much the withdrawl it’s more just the habit…
Chosen Answer:
I just wanted to encourage you in your quest to stop this bad habit. It does catch up with you. Quitting will change your life. You won’t realize it until you have gone a while. It will be mentally/psycholigically/physically challenging. My son had given me a picture of a smoked lung and a clean lung. Very motivating. regardless of your age it will benefit your life Good Luck
Does the american blue tip give you a nicotine type buzz or does it just make you “look cool”?

My hubby and I are going there to vacation for a week. How’d you like it? Did your condo smell smoky at all? They say there are no non-smoking units so I’m kind of worried they will all smell like smoke. Any tips about fun stuff to do there? Thanks!
